Chepa Sana Koora- Fish Roe Curry

The eggs found in a fish are called as Fish roe, they are found in sacs with millions of tiny eggs inside. My grandparents being from a coastal region this is a recipe that has been carried down in the family. We were to cut fish at culinary school and we all found fish roe in the fish and so I brought it home to make this dish.

Ingredients:
2 medium Onions diced
2 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
6-8 green chili minced
1/2 cup grated coconut
1 tablespoon coriander powder
1/4 teaspoon garam masala
2 teaspoons red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
Salt -to taste
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 sprigs curry leaves
3 tablespoons oil
4 sacs of Fish Roe(approximately 500 gms)

Procedure:
1. Heat oil in a pan add onion and turmeric and green chili and saute till translucent

2. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for 1-2 minutes on medium flame. Add curry leaves, tomato paste, coconut and spice powders and saute 3-4 more minutes till oil oozes out.

3. Add the fish roe and mix well. Sprinkle little water, cover with a lid and cook for about 10-15 minutes on a medium- low flame until done.Adjust spices to your taste.

Tips:
Fish Roe will feel dry so this recipe does require some oil.
The spices help take away the fishy smell from the dish, do adjust spices to your taste level.
