This recipe gives a simple demonstration of the spice mix for the Karnataka special dish BisiBele bath.
Ingredients:
10 red chilis
1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1" small stick cinnamon
2 cloves
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 tablespoons coriander seeds
1 tablespoons chana dal
1 tablespoons urad dal
1/4 cup grated coconut
1 teaspoon white poppy seeds
Procedure:
1.In a saute pan Take the red chilis and roast until you get an aroma of the chili
2.Add the chana dal and urad dal and saute for 1 minute.

Procedure:

2.Add the chana dal and urad dal and saute for 1 minute.
3.Now add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds and saute for 1 more minute.
4.Now add the remaining ingredients ie the mustard seeds, poppy seeds, cinnamon and cloves and saute for 1 more minute.
5.Add the coconut and saute for 1 minute and turn off the stove.
6.Let cool slightly and transfer the ingredients to a blender and blend to a fine powder.
Tips:
Mustard seeds and cumin seeds are not normally added to the spice mix but I like it with them, you can omit if you like.
