This was one of my favorite sweets from my childhood, these are commonly given to kids and are known to build muscle, brain power and stamina. My mom always used to make these for us when we were kids and I still enjoy these as a grown up.
Preparation time:30 minutes
Serves:40
Ingredients :
3 cups urad dal(dry roasted and powdered)(I used urad dal with the husk for fiber, you can use the ones with husk removed)
2 cups Sugar (I use half powdered sugar and half crystal sugar for texture)
1 1/2 cups Melted Ghee
1 teaspoon cardamom powder
Procedure:
1.Take the urad dal powder and the sugar and cardamom in a bowl and mix well.
2.Slowly add the warm melted ghee and keep mixing with a spoon mix very well. You may not need the entire ghee, use just enough to be able to make roundles.
3.Shape the mixture into 1 inch round balls and serve.
Tips:
You can also add finely chopped roasted nuts for crunch.
My hand grip isn't that strong so I can never shape perfectly round laddoos but more power to those who can shape perfectly circular laddoos.
