Egg Puffs

Egg Puffs are every Indians favorite snack food commonly sold in bakeries.These are boiled eggs stuffed in puff pastry and baked with some spices.Heres a simple recipe to  make them at the convenience of your home.
Preparation time:30 minutes
Serves:15


Ingredients:
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1/4 teaspoon chaat masala
2 medium onions diced
salt to taste
1/4 cup peas
2 teaspoons +2 tablespoons oil
3 green chili minced
8 eggs soft boiled and cut into half(see procedure here)
1 sheet puff pastry


Procedure:
1.Preheat oven to 400F . For the stuffing,heat 2 teaspoons oil in a pan and add the onion and green chili and saute for 3-4 minutes until translucent.

2.Add the peas and turmeric and saute for 2 minutes.

3.Add the spice powders and salt and saute for 2 minutes and turn off the stove.



4.Now roll out the puff pastry sheet,cut the sheet into 15 equal pieces.Place 1 teaspoon of the onion mixture on each piece and place the half egg yolk side down on the sheet.

5.Now fold the sheet onto the egg(apply some water on the edge for the dough to stick).Repeat for all the pieces of puff pastry and bake them in the oven .Place them on a baking sheet and bake for about 15 minutes or until the pastry is puffed up.Serve with your favorite sauce or ketchup.


Tips:
The onion and peas are optional but it gives a very good crunch and flavor to the puffs.If you want to omit,you can just mix the spice powders and sprinkle on the egg.
