Homemade Tamarind Paste

Do you buy tamarind paste from the store and often worry about the preservatives in it.With this recipe, you can make your own at home.
Preparation time:1 1/2 hour
Serves:2 cups of tamarind paste

Ingredients:
2 blocks tamarind
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon turmeric

1.Heat 4 cups of water in a pot and add the 2 blocks of tamarind to it and let it cook until it is soft. Let cool.

2.Now squeeze the tamarind well with your hands such that all the pulp is extracted and sieve the mixture. You can add more warm water and repeat if you think that the tamarind still has pulp.

3.Now take all the tamarind juice in a large pot, add salt and turmeric and simmer on a medium-low flame until all the water is evaporated and it comes together into a thick paste.

Tips:
Store the tamarind paste in a dry glass jar with an airtight lid in the refrigerator.
Do not dip wet spoons into the jar when using the tamarind paste.
Let the tamarind paste completely cool before transferring to a lid. Do not let water remain in the tamarind paste.
